My Purdue University Commencement Speech

What happened when I stumbled upon a old email from 2009……

On my search to find a digital copy of my Purdue University diploma, I stumbled upon an email that completely made my day. It was an email to the then president of Purdue University, seeking her final approval of my Fall 2009 Purdue commencement speech that I was to deliver to thousands of undergraduate and graduate students in the coming weeks.

I remember the day I got the call from then President France Cordova herself requesting that I deliver the speech for my graduating class. I was graduating a semester early so I found myself feelings excited, scared but also disappointed that none of my own friends from my class would be there to see me deliver the speech.

Nevertheless, what an incredible find. For some reason, the email included a copy of the speech as well as a photo of the dance team I created while at Purdue, Uni-D (Unified thru Dance). Seeing this photo really made me laugh today. For fun, I’ve included the photo and a copy of the speech for those interested in reading. :)
